After allowing the system to cool, restart the vehicle and confirm that the indicator light remains on before reconnecting any equipment. This process ensures that the system is safely reset and protected from overload conditions.

Restricted Device Usage: This outlet is intended for light-duty electronics only. It should not be used with equipment that requires high or unstable loads, as this may damage both the accessory and the vehicle’s electrical system. Using the outlet only with approved devices ensures consistent performance and prevents unintended interruptions in vehicle operation. Examples of restricted devices include:
- Tube-type televisions.
- Motor-driven loads such as vacuums, power tools, or compressor-based appliances.
- Precision medical or measurement equipment that depends on a highly stable power source.
- Sensitive household appliances such as microcomputer-controlled electric blankets or touch-activated lamps.
- Compatibility with Other Accessories: This package has been designed to work with all upgrades offered by Interceptor Innovations and will operate as a plug-and-play solution in most vehicles. The kit connects through the police 6-way power connector located beneath the center console, which is typically unused in the vehicle. In rare cases where aftermarket equipment is already connected to this port, you may need to split the 12V and ground wires in order to run both systems together. This process is straightforward and does not affect the reliability or safety of the installation, but it is important to check your console setup during installation.

The 2020–2024 Ford Police Interceptor Utility was never offered with Ford’s factory 110V (150W Max) on-board power system, leaving both fleet and civilian owners without a convenient way to power small electronics inside the vehicle. Our OEM On-Board Power Add-On Package bridges that gap, enabling the installation of a fully functional 110V outlet in the rear of the center console or within an agency’s chosen equipment console. Designed around Ford’s original components, this system provides up to 150 watts of power for devices such as laptops, chargers, and other electronics—all without relying on aftermarket inverters or spliced wiring.
Background Information
Because the Police Interceptor Utility was engineered with duty use in mind, most vehicles were delivered with heavy-duty equipment consoles instead of the civilian Explorer’s convenience features. This meant that no Interceptor left the factory with an integrated household power outlet. Our solution adapts seamlessly to a wide range of console configurations:
- Ford Police Interceptor admin center console – Many owners purchase the factory admin console for civilian or fleet use. These consoles include a dedicated slot in the rear for a 110V outlet. With our package, the outlet installs directly into this space with no cutting required, preserving the OEM fit and finish.
- Ford Explorer (civilian) center console – If your vehicle has been fitted with a console from a retail Explorer, you may already have a rear slot that either contains USB ports or is blank. If your console is missing the 110V outlet, you can select the optional OEM outlet from our order menu, allowing a clean, factory-correct installation.
- HAVIS console – Agencies that use HAVIS consoles often face the challenge of no factory provision for outlets. For this, we provide a specially designed adapter faceplate in multiple sizes, allowing the 110V outlet to be mounted cleanly in available blank spaces. This ensures law enforcement fleets can add practical utility without compromising durability.
The outlet itself behaves exactly like Ford’s original system. It automatically disables power when the ignition is switched off, when the vehicle is not in accessory mode, or if the battery voltage drops below 11 volts—protecting both the vehicle’s electrical system and your connected devices. With a maximum output of 150 watts, the outlet is ideal for powering essential electronics without the need for external adapters or converters.
